Tech Week Grand Rapids

Taking place in Grand Rapids, Michigan each September, Tech Week Grand Rapids is one of the premier tech-focused events in the Midwest. From humble beginnings in 2022 to now boasting 14,000+ attendees each year, this event and brand has grown exponentially. I was tasked with creating the initial brand in just a few days and I am proud to say that it's had the ability to grow and evolve with the event in that time. Below are a few features of the brand as well as examples of it's use over the years.

Tech Week Brand

The Tech Week brand features a tech-centered and flexible logo that allows for a variety of uses in both print and digital applications. The brand is designed to create a sense of forward looking progress with a bright, almost neon color palette.

Standard Logo

The standard logo allows options on light and dark backgrounds as well as flexibility with the bounding box allowing unique design utilization.

Horizontal Logo

The horizontal logo continues the versatile nature of the logo by allowing design uses in spaces where the standard logo is unable to fit.

Color Palette

The color palette was developed to promote forward-thinking excitement with a basis on high-contrast and fluidity. The colors can create stunning graphics offering distinctive branding opportunities.

Typography

The typeface options that are paired with the Tech Week brand are Ohm and Roc Grotesk. Used in the logo mark itself, Ohm is also used as a headline and callout option while creating impactful visuals to accompany the brand. Roc Grotesk is an extremely varied typeface, offering many weights and widths that provide solutions for everything from body copy to headlines.

Graphics & Backgrounds

Keying off of the logo type, line graphics are utilized throughout different design pieces. Using a freeform gradient that uses a selection of the color palette, the backgrounds offer many options for digital and print projects.

Tech Week in the Community

The Tech Week brand has evolved as it expands into new spaces every year. Below are some examples of its use during before and during the event in the form of advertising, swag, printed event signage, and sponsorship communications.

Advertising

In 2025, Tech Week moved more into general advertisement in the form of billboards and posters that event hosts could display in the lead up to their events.

Swag

Many events feature branded swag, and Tech Week is no different. The brand opens up many options for swag design, below are a few of the items produced.

Tech Week Events

While any company can host a Tech Week event, I was tasked to create signage for the main events that The Right Place hosted. I also needed to create signage that could be rented by other hosts to make sure the Tech Week brand remained consistent across all the events.

Sponsorship Communications

Tech Week wouldn't function without buy in from the community in the form of sponsorships. I created all sponsorship communication documents that were used by the rest of the team for the events that The Right Place hosted.
